DCEO soon to be captured!

“Africa doesn’t need strongmen, it needs strong institutions,” proclaimed President Barack Obama, in his speech to the Ghanaian parliament in 2009

According to Lesotho Times The Prime Minister, Dr. Thomas Thabane is intending to move DCEO into the prime minister’s office.

The Prime Minister is quoted as saying: “…I am moving the DCEO( Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences) into my( PM’s) offices so that I can monitor it myself and ensure that it(Dceo) discharges its mandate….”

Has the Prime Minister forgotten about the principle of separation of powers and checks and balances, which will definitely be compromised if DCEO is relocated to his ofiice?

Maybe he should fire all his Ministers and PS’s and relocate these ministries to his office because it’s clear these ministries are not doing well. I highly recommend that that we relocate NUL, LRA, LCA, Police, Army and Queen Mamohato Memorial Hospital into his office. It is evident that these institutions are not performing well. Finally, here is a man who can fix all our problems as a country!

Lt Gen Kamoli’s bail application postponed yet again

Tuesday, Justice Teboho Moiloa, of the Lesotho High Court, today, postponed judgment on the bail application of Lt Gen Tlali Kamoli to November 21 after hearing arguments for and against his application.

His attorney, Adv Letuka Molati argued that the general is a law abiding citizen, he can not violate his bail terms and conditions, saying, had he wanted to run away, he could have done so the moment he was invited through a phone call to present himself before the police, fully knowing that he may be arrested and detained in prison.

Furthermore, Adv Molati argued that, as a retired army boss, Kamoli does not wield authority over the members of the Lesotho Defence Force to threaten the powers that be.

The prosecution, led by Mr Haae Phoofolo, KC said a man facing multiple criminal charges that include murder, can only be released on bail if suffering from cancer.

General Kamoli was escorted to court and back to prison by heavily armed soldiers. His legs were chained and his hands handcuffed.

Lesotho: Sebonomoea RK Ramainoane, Editor in Chief at MOAFRIKA FM RADIO will be in court for the third time this Thursday, for a remand, by a Maseru magistrate.

Ramainoane, is facing a criminal defamation charge, for allegedly broadcasting unfavourable news about Beleme Lebajoa a police officer responsible for arrests of soldiers, police officers and opposition party members who are thought to be anti-government.

Monday, October 30, is nevertheless set aside for legal arguments in which Adv Zwelakhe Mda, KC for Ramainoane, shall be arguing an application for the matter to be halted, as the accused would like to seek the intervention of the high court, for the declaration of criminal defamation as unconstitutional. Lesotho prime minister, Thomas Thabane and his minister of public service together with Molobeli Soulu, former minister of defence and public safety have been served with subpeanad to go and testify in a bail application of Lt Gen Tlali Kamoli.

KAMOLI SPILLS BEANS ON TS’OOANA

.
Former army strongman, Tlali Kamoli says ex-police boss, Khothatso Ts’ooana, is going to be embarrassed on the immoral things he did on the night when the then Prime Minister’s girlfriend, Ms Liabiloe Ramoholi’s house was bombed.
.
Kamoli is flamboyant that the truth is going to be out very soon because Ts’ooana has been concealing it for so long.
.
“Ntate Ts’ooana should tell the truth about where he was and what he was doing when his house was also bombed…
.
“Ntate Ts’ooana has been concealing evidence and other information which may cause him embarrassment and even disciplinary or criminal action action.” Kamoli reveals in his answering affidavit to fight for bail.
.
Moreover, the ex-military boss claims Ts’ooana is in trouble because the weapons that were used to bomb the homes were actually in his custody!
